Asia-Pacific Leading Demand for New Aircraft

Airlines in the Asia-Pacific region will take delivery of around 9,370 new aircraft over the next 20 years, according to the latest market forecast by Airbus.

Valued at US$1.3 trillion, the deliveries will account for 34 per cent of all new aircraft with more than 100 seats entering service worldwide over the forecast period, with the region overtaking North America and Europe as the world’s largest air transport market.

The latest forecast for the region was presented today at the Singapore Airshow by John Leahy, Chief Operating Officer, Customers, Airbus.

In terms of growth, Airbus expects the number of passengers carried by Asia-Pacific airlines to rise by 5.9 per cent per year, compared with the global average of 4.8 per cent. I

U.S. CONVENTION CENTERS CONTINUE TO GET BIGGER

Despite convention tourism declining in the US, the government continues to make the centers bigger. The projects are mainly viewed as investments into the image of the cities.

The ‘bigger is better’ attitude to life is not applicable to every situation yet it certainly makes a good description of the current attitude in the USA towards the building of convention centers.

A number of projects have recently been established on American soil to build meeting halls, conference rooms and convention hotels of which Americans should be proud. The problem is that the demand for such impressive structures and the need for such projects are in decline.

To state an example: the Indianapolis Convention Center has doubled its meeting space within the last year and is now capable of entertaining twice as many business people as before. It

2012 Cruise Trends: Cruise Critic Reports on New Smoking Policies, Hot Destinations, the Gulf’s Cruise Revival and Increases to Onboard Fees

Looking at what’s in store for cruisers in 2012, editors at Cruise Critic, the influential cruise news and reviews site, have compiled a list of what is — and what isn’t — likely to make waves in the next twelve months.

“We’re expecting to see changes — such as new smoking policies, which will extend the smoke-free areas of the ship, and increased onboard fees — which could have a profound effect on the cruise experience,” said Carolyn Spencer Brown, Cruise Critic editor in chief. “In terms of destinations, the Caribbean will remain a firm favorite for cruisers, and cruise lines continue to increase capacity in the region.
