
Any Britons inspired by Darren Clarke’s recent Open Championship victory, or Mark Cavendish’s exploits in the Tour de France, will now have to pay up to 35 per cent more to travel with golf clubs or a bicycle.
easyJet – which this week raised its profit forecast for the year to more than £200m – has increased the cost of travelling with sporting equipment from £18.50 to £25.
Jet2 has increased its fees by £5, from £20 to £25 for golf clubs and from £25 to £30 for bicycles, Bmibaby has raised its charge for flying with a bicycle from £17.99 to £24.99, and Flybe has increased its fee from £28 to £30.
