Last month my fellow Indiana Insider blogger Erik wrote a post about Mitchell, Indianas plans to celebrate Gus Grissoms 50th anniversary in space. The events all take place this weekend (Friday, July 22-Sunday, July 24). Family commitments are keeping my family from visiting Spring Mill State Park, one of the event hosts, for all the festivities this weekend, but we had a chance to go last weekend and had a wonderful time. The fraudster bought hundreds of cheap advance tickets and then converted and sold them just before the flight as expensive “last minute” deals.

The scam meant that he could sell a ticket bought for £1,700 weeks before the flight for up to £5,500 just before take-off.

The fraud, said to have cost the airline nearly £250,000, was exposed in a security audit at Heathrow Airport and the perpetrator Mark Smith, 36, was jailed, it was said.

FRESNO, Calif. – Three people presumed dead after being swept over a raging waterfall in Yosemite National Park ignored warning signs and crossed a barricade to pose for photographs, a witness said Wednesday.

In addition, other hikers on the trail above the 317-foot Vernal Falls warned the group that conditions in the Merced River were treacherous.

“People come up here and they think it’s Disneyland,” said Jake Bibee, who says he is haunted by the look of terror in one man’s eyes as he was swept over the falls clinging to his female companion.

Authorities have been urged to do more to protect travellers from holiday-rental fraud in the run-up to the 2012 Olympics.

Tens of thousands of Britons and foreigners are expected to visit the capital during the games next summer. The owner of a London-based lettings agency said this week that more needed to be done to prevent many of them falling victim to online swindles.

Julie Madison, 38, owns nine properties in the capital, which she advertises through her own website, www.holidayrentalslondon.com.
