US Census Survey Findings

WASHINGTON, DC – According to new findings from the US Census Bureau’s 2007 Survey of Business Owners, Hawaii led the nation in the number of businesses owned by Native Hawaiians and Other Pacific Islanders. Native Hawaiians and Other Pacific Islanders owned 11,383 businesses, or 30.0 percent of the national total of 37,957 Native Hawaiian- and Other Pacific Islander-owned firms. Just behind Hawaii was California with 9,255 firms.

Nationally, the number of Native Hawaiian- and Other Pacific Islander-owned firms increased 31.1 percent between 2002, the last time these statistics were collected, and 2007.

KLM has launched a thrice daily service from Durham Tees Valley to Schiphol Airport, Amsterdam. The new route is part of the airline’s new summer schedule and will depart the UK airport at 06.15, 09.20 and 13.45. “We have a long-standing relationship with KLM and one of the key benefits of the revised schedule is that it means improved links for passengers on flights to and from many destinations including Singapore, Hong Kong, New York and Frankfurt,” said Mike Morton, the airport’s director.

Singapore Airlines (SIA) has commenced flights to Sao Paulo from Singapore Changi Airport. The destination is the airline’s first in South America and will operate thrice weekly. “We are pleased to add Sao Paulo to our growing network of destinations. With such high profile events as the 2014 FIFA World Cup and the 2016 Summer Olympic Games lined up in Brazil, we are confident that travel demand to Brazil will be strong,” said Mak Swee Wah, executive vice president commercial at SIA. “Similarly, we hope that Brazilians will take the opportunity to visit Singapore and use Changi Airport as a gateway to the Asia-Pacific region.”
