Getabed.co.uk has recorded a 62% increase in sales compared to this time last year, in time for the bed bank’s 20th anniversary. The independent company has attributed its new European product to the sales surge, on top of its already popular long-haul city and USA products. “Our top four fastest growing destinations are Majorca, Tenerife, Paris and Rome – all have seen substantial three-digit growth compared to the first half of last year,” said Matt Stuart, managing director of Getabed.co.uk. “Of course this is largely due to the extra product we’ve bought online but also it’s indicative of the swing towards the western Mediterranean this year, away from prices increases in Turkey and turbulence seen in North Africa.” He said that Las Vegas had continued to be the big seller, with sales up 59%. “The stability of the dollar against the pound make it attractive to the British travellers, while the domestic USA travelling market is still struggling to recover meaning there are great hotel deals to be had. Plus there has been an increase in direct flights from both London and Manchester,” explained Stuart.
