NEW ORLEANS, LA – For the first time in years, outdoor Shakespeare returns to New Orleans with a magical production A Midsummer Night’s Dream presented at the New Orleans Museum of Art (NOMA) under the stars in the museum’s Sydney and Walda Besthoff Sculpture Garden. The NOLA Project, which presented The Misanthrope at NOMA in 2006, once again teams up with the museum to present four evenings of witty, whimsical theatre each Friday this May starting at 7 p.m. Presented at dusk, this 90-minute production, presented all around the Besthoff Garden is sure to enchant and delight audiences of all ages.

“We are delighted to add an outdoor theatre series to our Friday night Where Y’Art programming,” said NOMA Director Susan Taylor. In A Midsummer Night’s Dream four love-sick youths wander into an enchanted forest where they encounter fairies, gods and goddesses determined to play tricks on their raging hormones. The Besthoff Sculpture Garden, with its hanging Spanish moss, looming oaks, and striking sculptures provides a perfect real-life setting for this mystical romp.

“It’s as if this play, this cast, and this garden were made for each other,” said Director Andrew Larimer. I’m laughing at every rehearsal and thrilled to see it coming together!”
