Missouri has seen more than its fair share of rain this spring and summer. That certainly puts a damper on vacation plans, but it’s especially bad if your plans include camping.
Branson, Mo., KOA campground owners Ralph and Kim Newell have come up with a new way to take the risk out of rainy weather for their campers: The Rainy Day Guarantee.
If it rains more than one inch in a single day, they’ll refund 50 percent of that’s day’s reservation cost to campers who ask for the guarantee – or they’ll give those campers an additional night free. The offer is only good for campers who ask for the guarantee when they check in at the campground. The “official” rain total will be as recorded by the National Weather Service.
Angie Dickerson, manager at the campground, said, “There was this perception that Branson was flooded and you can’t go there, but we wanted to take that worry out.” She says the guarantee will last until the end of the year, and possibly beyond that.
