A walking tour of Augusta, Mo., or other “wine towns” offers healthy exercise and a chance to shop for unique holiday gifts.

I’m out of the office traveling (be sure to check my blog soon for details). While I’m out, I thought I’d leave you with some road trip suggestions from our Summer Fun guide.

Today we look at Augusta

Scenic and nearby (especially if you live in Chesterfield or St. Charles), Augusta is just off Highway 94 in St. Charles County. This small town has been a tourist destination since the 1960s, largely due to its wineries with sweeping views of the Missouri River Valley. The area is home to one brewery and nine wineries, including the newest, Noboleis Vineyards, 100 Hemsath Road. Augusta also has a history museum, nearly a dozen bed-and-breakfasts, antiques stores and boutiques selling handcrafted items by local artisans. More info: augusta-missouri.com
