Every week I receive dozens of emails, phone calls and brochures about fabulous places to visit all over the world. Every Thursday, I write about one of those places. Today, I found an adventure-filled tour in Churchill, Manitoba, Canada.

From the email:

This land, home of the Inuit, is an outdoor lover’s paradise known for its variety of nesting shore birds, herds of foraging caribou and abundant snow geese and Canada geese. Anglers fish bountiful waters for hefty lake trout, northern pike and trophy-sized arctic char. Churchill is home of the Northern Studies Centre, one of the primary research stations for Arctic flora and fauna and of the phenomenon of the Aurora Borealis (the spectacular Northern Lights).

On a new, 6-day/5-night tour package offered by The Great Canadian Travel Company, you’ll have the opportunity to explore this northern community in-depth, visiting such local attractions as Cape Merry, the Port of Churchill and the Polar Bear Compound. Learn the rich history of Churchill from the early explorers who founded the Hudson Bay Company, through the military presence to the present day. Stop at the Churchill Northern Studies Centre for a quick visit. Situated along the Hudson Bay seacoast at the meeting of three major biomes – marine, northern boreal forest, and tundra – the CNSC facilitates arctic research and education such as the Canadian Wildlife Service polar bear project and climate change studies.

You’ll take a half-day tundra vehicle tour, allowing a rare opportunity to travel across the Wildlife Management Area in search of ptarmigan, arctic fox, snowy owl, and arctic hare.

You will also embark on a day excursion to Cross River. On this tour, you’ll see the beautiful, vocal beluga whales and the rugged scenery of the West Peninsula. Visit archaeological sites, historically significant Sloops Cove, and Fort Prince of Wales. Following your tour you will be visit the Eskimo Museum. This excellent museum houses one of the world’s largest and most comprehensive colle ctions of Inuit artifacts and sculpture.

On the last day of the tour, you’ll join a guided nature hike to explore the boreal forest, taiga and tundra, and the Hudson Bay coast. Visit fox-denning areas and see unusual rock formations and fossils. The afternoon provides time to shop or take last minute photos before transferring to the airport for your return flight.
